How Representative Payee Services Work

How Representative Payee Services Work

Indiana County Community Action Program, Inc. may serve as Representative Payee for eligible individuals who need help managing Social Security, SSI, SSDI, pension, VA, Black Lung, or other approved income. As payee, ICCAP receives the consumer’s income into an agency Representative Payee account and uses those funds to help meet the consumer’s essential needs.

Funds are generally used in the following order:

  1. Shelter & Utilities
  2. Food
  3. Medical Costs
  4. Legal Obligations
  5. Clothing
  6. Personal Spending Money
  7. Other Approved Needs or Savings Goals

ICCAP may assist with budgeting, bill payment, approved personal needs, benefit-related paperwork, communication with Social Security, and coordination with landlords, utility companies, medical providers, case managers, and other authorized parties.
