Food Programs

Supports food assistance operations, including food donations, pantry support, food storage, distribution preparation, and other services that help provide food to individuals and families in need throughout Indiana County.

Position Summary

The Food Program Counselor supports ICCAP’s food assistance services through client intake, eligibility review, program coordination, inventory tracking, and accurate recordkeeping. This position works with clients, schools, volunteers, and community partners to help ensure food services are delivered efficiently and in compliance with program requirements.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Food assistance program coordination
  • Client intake, eligibility review, and data management
  • Inventory tracking and distribution support
  • Administrative support for food program operations
  • Recordkeeping and reporting

Core Duties

  • Conduct client intake and determine eligibility for food assistance services
  • Enter and update client and program information accurately and on time
  • Maintain client lists, program records, reports, and required documentation
  • Coordinate food deliveries, distributions, and related communication with schools and partners
  • Track inventory received and distributed for food programs
  • Answer calls and provide helpful program information to clients and community members
  • Assist with volunteers, warehouse organization, distributions, and safe equipment use as trained

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and protect data integrity
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with low-income individuals and families
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn agency systems
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive, professional attitude

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of vehicle insurance meeting agency standards
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Ability to obtain Motor Vehicle Report, Act 33 and Act 34 clearances, and FBI clearance with fingerprinting
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Work Environment & Expectations

Work includes office-based tasks, client interaction, warehouse support, inventory activities, and food distributions. The position requires organization, physical activity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
